Yes, agreed, on all the above.
In my defence I would like to claim it was an attempt to accurately simulate the dire geographical knowledge of the rest of England as exhibited by all London-based hacks.

'North Midlands'? 'Pottery town'? Boo!

Stoke is part of 'The Potteries', but it isn't referred to as a 'pottery'. And north midlands is horrible! North Staffordshire is fine, though.

The North starts at Cheshire, Crewe being the 'gateway to the north'. Stoke is just plain old 'Midlands'.

Errr....where was I? Funny sub, apart from those bits.

Residents of the North Midlands Pottery town awoke today to find themselves part of Greater London, as a result of the latest boundary commission changes. The new borough will be known as North North London.

"Spreading London around the country is an effective way of answering critics who say London concentrates too much power in the South East", explained a Commission spokesperson.

Stoke residents can now reap the benefits of London living. Although Council Tax will be somewhat higher, the 145-mile Bakerloo extension will enable North North London culture fans to take in a West end show on a Saturday evening and be home tucked up in bed by the following Friday.
