"Panty waist Brit MPs in drunken rampage" ran the headline in The Sacremento Bee in California. "Why Must English MPs Always Fight When They're Drunk," asked an editorial in Silvio Berlusconi's newspaper, Gazzetta Della Bunga Bunga, while Germany's Der Spiegel settled for a one word headline "Vankers"

The incident has sparked outrage in Britain, where there have been calls to bring back the birch, re-introduce National Service and extend the hours of Question Time.

Some have even called for the hundreds of subsidised bars around the Houses of Parliament to be closed. "When I was younger I was an MP. Whenever I could escape from my constituency I'd scrape the money together to go to Westminster village," said one Edwina, who confessed to having sex with a Prime Minister. "it was brilliant." But the lethal mixture of late nights, booze and power-induced aphrodisiacs caught up with her, and she confesses that she had a nasty experience with Salmonella.

"Many of these MPs have good jobs. Some of the guys that get arrested are barristers, solicitors and even high court judges," said one cop, "the days when an MP got into Parliament because he couldn't get a proper job are long gone. Some are even reality TV stras these days."

One historian said we should stop panicking as this is nothing new. "Parliament has always been an institution that hates itself in the morning," he said, "Britain's history of drunken MPs goes right back to the days when the Cavaliers and Roundheads used to fight every bank holiday. You'll never change it. If it got really bad, they'd turn it into a Danny Dyer film, and that would kil it stone dead."

The unacceptable face of Parliamentary Hooliganism reared its ugly head again yesterday, with booze fuelled rival factions clashing in a House of Commons bar.

The police say there was one arrest and at least one member injured, after ancient rivalries were ignited by cheap booze which is freely available in the holiday camp known to locals as Westminster Village. "It's always the same with British MPs, they have a few drinks and they want to have a fight," said one football fan, who said he felt ashamed to be British.

"There's absolutely no excuse for what they do," said one journalist, "I regularly fiddle my expenses, and drink twenty pints a night with blokes from a rival newspaper, but we never ned up fighting one another."

News of Britain's shame rapidly spread and accounts of the violence were screened to viewers across the globe, from Manhattan to Minsk.
