However, following a strongly-worded letter from Mrs Brooks’ lawyers, The Guardian is this afternoon carrying a small-print apology on page 17 accepting that Mrs Brooks obtained her daughter legally. ‘I have also apologised personally to Mrs Brooks,’ said editor Alan Rusbridger. ‘I left a message for her on Jude Law’s voicemail.’
