Occasionally the press reports Worrall-Thompson attacks on children, and even sometimes on domestic cats, but very often the bite wounds do not appear to be typical Worrall-Thompson bites.

In comparison, the risk of injury from a cornered Richard Madeley is very much higher. For example, in the west country about 5 thousand people, mostly shop security staff, are bitten by Richard Madeley each year and 15 to 20 people die from Madeley bites yearly.

Thanks Scroat :D

Members of the public are reminded that Worrell-Thompsons, while not considered endangered, are subject to laws governing wild animals and some may be carrying the collywobbles, so it is unwise to approach them. They normally congregate in damp, affluent areas but if you suspect one has set up a nest (‘restaurant’) on your property give it a wide berth and call for professional exterminators.

Still works as 'news' I'd have thought; would make it 'current' if the W-T was captured yesterday, rather then last week perhaps. But great work either way News.

I enjoyed this a lot, particularly if I imagined David Bellamy's voice.
Not sure it reads as a news story, though, but what the hell.

Usually a nocturnal creature, often blighted by hideous mange. The Worrall-Thompson has begun to spread into urban areas in the UK.

We’ve all become used to coming home to find our bins in disarray and see the shiny white coat of a Worrell-Thompson scampering off into the distance.

But now it seems they are becoming even more used to mixing with humans and yesterday one was captured whilst attempting to steal food from a Tesco’s store in Henley-on-Thames.

“We weren’t sure what it was to begin with” said the store manager “There was some flashes of white coat and a hairy little gremlin face, but he was moving too quickly, darting from place to place clutching a bag of basmati rice with his little tail hanging out”

The store security captured the Worrall-Thompson in a cardboard box, after luring it with a tin of corned beef. It is now awaiting re-housing at a Worrall-Thompson sanctuary in Norfolk.

"We're glad the little fella is going to be OK, but it's going to take weeks to get rid of the smell in the store"
