Good sub, RC, stars.

I confess, the Q8/Saudi pun went right past me until you explained it.

On the merits of BMW & Audi drivers, there are plenty of good drivers, maybe double figures even. The cars are just too comfortable at speed, and relatively affordable.

In fairness, I could of have written this about a different marque but then the Q8/Audi Arabia joke wouldn't fit.

And I wanted to write it about Audis.

Ostsee, I worked out the anagram as I started to reply, but then I'd already thought of a vaguely amusing reply.

I think you may be right VCG, it may just add some more anger-fuel to the fire when it's a BMW or Audi. The Motorway near where mrs 4fun & I live has one of the worst fatality records and though popular with tailgaters my observation is that, if anything, commercial vehicles are the worst. This view might be influenced by the HGV which pulled over on me last week. Obviously I shouldn't have raised the single digit to him but he had been driving a tad close.

Oh, and Runestone - full marks

There's a perception that Audi drivers and BMW drivers all drive like twats. But I'm not 100% sure they're actually any more likely to drive like a complete bell-end than anybody else. There's a frightening number of utter nobheads on the roads.

If you get overtaken on a blind corner by some dickhead in a Peugeot 206 you just think "Twat", if a BMW driver does the same thing you think "Fucking BMW". Which then makes you think that there are actually more BMW drivers being idiots.

there's 2 types of audi driver, the ones who sit in front of you in the fast lane going slow and the ones who sit behind you tailgating you at speeds in excess of the speed limit.
Perhaps they could turn the rear bumper magnet round so you repel (or even propel) them when they're on a go slow. I also notice a subtle attempt by German car manufacturers to reduce the size of rear indicators to the extent that they'll soon either disappear or be the size of a 5p piece
Audi owners, too old for VW or Seat and too young for a skoda or too low in the company for a BMW or Mercedes

"There is definitely something about Audi drivers" - yep; not the nine o'clock news or spitting image summed it up thus, many years ago:
'Vorsprung durch technik' or 'Deutschland Uber alles' as we in Germany still like to imply.

Runestone, I was not being at all rude to you, I was just thinking what the initials AUDI could stand for. I too have been stalked by morons in Audis, usually painted white.

I like it too.

One of my mates had an altercation with a brand new Audi the other week, which ended with him pulling in front of it and slamming on his brakes so it crashed into his towbar.

Campaigners for a reduction in CO2 emissions have warmly welcomed an eco-minded development from Audi. Their latest model, a 3.2 tonne, 6 metre-long SUV badged 'Q8', features an optional magnetic front bumper, which can save up to 1% on fuel costs.

"This is yet another great innovation from our Spurious Engineering department", demanded Wolfgang Hock, Dictator of Operations. "By designing a feature that makes this leviathan slightly more economical on paper, our customers can adopt a lofty position with a clear conscience."

The Q8 and its larger stablemate, the Audi Arabia, both feature the new bumper. Using a 9-litre engine to quickly and efficiently speed the vehicle towards the car in front, the system automatically triggers the foglights and special headlamp flashers to show when it's working.

"The Magnetronische ecoDrücken allows our cars to travel just millimetres from the car in front with ruthless efficiency", insisted Hock. "The flashing lights were a late addition, but we had to fit them for safety reasons. Motorists in the UK aren't quite ready for an Audi sitting on their arse that isn't lit up like a Christmas tree."
