And commiserations to wayland, who I think would have won under the old rules, and really is long overdue a mug for his efforts. There were a couple of excellent additions made to the story in editing, so it seems only fair that the editor takes some of the credit. Maybe break the handle off the mug and keep it for yourself. When I was at school my English teacher told my parents that I was quite creative but seemed to be limited to one genre, comedy. VCG also scored four other FPs and five NIBs in the month, so is a thoroughly deserving winner. He earns himself a NewsBiscuit mug from which to drink his Lidl 'value range' tea. In a close second was apepper with the News-in-Brief 'Homeopathic economist suggests injecting 'up to £1' into economy'. Its success proves that increasing the concentration of homeopathic stories on NewsBiscuit does nothing to dilute their popularity. The rest of the top five was made up of Qoxiivi's 'Man suspended for carrying banana through office', 'On-the-run Manchester United found cowering in Wythenshawe storm drain', and a suprise re-appearance for Gary Stanton's story from last year, 'Kate Middleton 'almost cerainly pregnant'', which we hope has been re-appraised as straight factual reporting. A special mention also for waylandsmithy who kept pace with Vertically Challenged Giant and bagged five front pags and five NIBs last month. Not bad considering he refused even to come off the bench and warm up. Many thanks to the crowd of people who pitched their tents in the NewsBiscuit writers' room last month, and to the handful who were committed enough actually to sleep in them overnight.
