The BBC has been widely criticised today after broadcasting the 10 o'clock news 1 hour early claiming 'well, we know it's 9o'clock, but it's really 10o'clock '

Their comments come on the day the clocks go back 1 hour for the end of British Summer Time. "It happens every time the clocks change back" the Director General told us. "You notice it is dark at 5o'clock, and when you point it out, there will be someone who will helpfully remind you that 'well, that's because it's really 6o'clock'. We anticipate the 10o'clock news being on at 9o'clock until at least Wednesday."

It was not just the BBC who were having problems sticking to the new time. Lewis Hamilton used the traditionally British non-acceptance of time change to win today's inaugural Indian Grand Prix. "I started the race 1 hour earlier than everyone else" the cheeky little speed freak told us. "I know it was only 8:30am UK time, but it was really 9:30am, so I began racing"

Mr Harris, a heart bypass patient from Bolton, underwent his life saving surgery without any anesthetic because of the 6 monthly phenomenon. "I was due to go down at midday" he recalled "but the surgeon made the first slice with the scalpel at 11:00am because, as he said, 'it's really 12:00pm'. Unfortunately no one told the anesthetist". Mr Harris also confirmed that he will be suing the anesthetist for gross negligence adding "everyone knows the new time does not count for at least three days"

When we arrived for an interview with the Prime Minister about the biannual confusion caused by the time changing, and if he could find an imaginative way of blaming 13 years of a labour government, and if George Osbourn will be out trick or treating this year, we were met by the cleaner who informed us 'he was here about an hour ago'
