Stars instead </p> http://newsbiscuit.com/forum/topic.php?id=30914#post-87082 Fri, 23 Sep 2011 18:54:00 +0000 dominic_mcg 87082@http://newsbiscuit.com/forum/ <p>Richard Sheridan leader of the Dale Farm Travellers' Association has submitted a bid to the United Nations for recognition of the independent state of Dalefarmia.</p> <p>The UN General Assembly applauded as Mr Sheridan urged the Security Council to acknowledge the existence of the country taking into account post-1991 borders.</p> <p>He said the Travellers had entered into negotiations with Basildon Council with good intentions, but blamed Tony Ball for their breakdown.</p> <p>Mr Sheridan said that the heart of the problem was not refused planning permission but the council's refusal to recognise Dale Farm as an independent state.</p> <p>On closing his speech to rapturous applause, Mr Sheridan reminded the UN Assembly that Dale Farm is currently the only country in Europe not suffering as a result of the current recession. It has low unemployment, its economy runs solely on a cash-in-hand basis and, he claimed, most western economies could learn a thing or two from us. </p>
