Scores of scientific theories were laid to rest yesterday when physicist Brian Furrowes arrived from the year 2121 to confirm that time travel is not possible.

Furrowes, 52, who will be born in Newton Bobrough, Suffolk, in 2069, has announced that advanced research from the future on hyper-linked computers has found that travelling in time is a physically impossibilty, and will never be acheived. "It is a huge blow," he admitted, "Einstein theorised that wormholes could be linked to create bridges between past and future events. It turns out he was just contributing scripts to Doctor Who."

Celebrity boffin, Professor Brian Cox, 43, said "I am very disappointed in this news. The BBC will probably do a Horizon on it. I'll have to travel to Antartica, Goa, the Nevada Desert and Bermuda to explain it all."

There was later tragedy when the taxi taking Furrowes to his hotel struck and killed a schoolboy, later named as Furrowes' own grandfather. Furrowes was reported as being "unharmed, but shaken" after the event.
