Err, we're all time travelling, dude. On the arrow of time. You can only go one way, though. And isn't there that weird thing about pairs of electrons sharing data instantaneously, no matter how far apart?

Oh right, Doctor Who. Liked it. 5 from me (don't tell Rikkor).

There's some Allbran in my kitchen. It's about 10 seconds away, but it might as well be in another galaxy.

Aldebaran is 65 light years away. Therefore a radio signal would take 2x65=130 years to go to Aldebaran and back again.

No idea where the "65 million" came from.

thanks all.. Ollie, you're in good company with that thought as Stephen Hawking has made the same point, possibly in 'A brief but completely incomprehensible history of time'. I will however still harbour plans for Cameron from the Terminator spin-off series should she ever pop into existence in my vicinity..

Good stuff pere. And if this spells the end of Doctor Who then there might just be a God.

And on a side note I had a small revelation the other day about time travel. I'm no mathematician or physicist as will become clear, but since there are is no evidence around us at the moment of amazingly advanced humans coming back from the future then does this not prove that time travel will never be possible, ever. You could argue they would have no reason to come back to 2011, but you'd think every now and again you'd see a sudden flash of lightning followed by a slightly weird-looking humanoid appear out of thin air (I'm informed on such matters by the original Terminator film of course). This never happens, ergo time travel is impossible. Discuss.

As physicists in Hong Kong proved that photons cannot exceed the speed of light, thereby eliminating the possibility of time travel, producers of BBC’s Dr Who have embraced the need for an overhaul. “The whole premise of the show has been undermined” said director Toby Featherlite “if there’s no possibility of something becoming reality one day then people just give up on it – look at the Liberal manifesto. So we’re taking the show in an altogether more realistic direction’

The most visible change is the replacement of the Tardis with a Toyota Prius. “We had to lose the police markings, because that’s actually an offence, and when you go inside, it’s exactly the size you’d expect”, said Toby “as we’re limited by the laws of Einsteinian physics”. The inability of the Prius to travel on any medium other than tarmac is not an issue, as future episodes are to be set in Slough, Doncaster and Coventry. “There is an episode set on Aldebaran”, continued Toby, “but viewers will have to wait 450 million years to see it as that’s what it takes the light to get here”

Meanwhile there were angry scenes at the filming of the latest episode as rookie make up assistant Shaniqua Brown attempted to follow the new realism guidelines by removing the gruseome bony protuberances from Benedict Cumberbatch’s face. “I thought he was made up as an elephant man or whatever, and it looked well over the top’ she explained, ‘but it turns out he was born like that, poor sod – eyes like pissholes in the snow”.
