In a controversial move, powers of arrest and detention have been granted to the supervisors of all recycling sites, commonly known as the Junk Police. This move is to tighten up on appropriate recycling and minimising landfill.

However, recent days have shown that the Junk Police are taking this to an extreme. Reports have come in of brutal treatment of a man who had thrown an old metal hanging basket into the metal recycler when it still had traces of dirt on the basket itself. He was made to jump in to the recycler to retrieve it, lost a hand in the process, washed the dirt into the Green Waste only with his blood and was then issued a £60 fixed penalty.

More severe still was the actual arrest of a man who had left a crisp packet in his bag of grass clippings. He was detained overnight in a large metal container very similar to the one on all sites signposted "TV's and Monitor's". While in detention his car was classed as abandoned so a large JCB crushed it and dropped it into the scrap metal container. The JCB driver was subsequently arrested as the tyres should have gone into a separate bin, the seat covers are fabric and should go in the Humana Box, and as for the car battery ...

This poor soul's head is still on a pole outside the recycling plant

Strangely business has slowed up ...
