Following the staggering ratings success of the Leaders Debate last night, ITV announced a new game show called "Who Wants to be a Prime Minister?"

Produced by Simon Cowell and hosted by Chris Tarrant, the winning contestant will be instantly plunged into eye-watering debt and blamed for everything that goes wrong in the country.

The losers will be given membership of an exclusive club in the heart of Westminster, a second home (which they can swap back and forth with their first as often as they like) and a seemingly unlimited expense account.

Simon Cowell commented: "I'm not sure why anyone would want to win my new game show. It seems like a bit of a mugs game to me. If I were playing, I'd play to lose."

Chris Tarrant added: "I'm delighted to be involved with this new project. It has inspired us to add a new level to Who Wants to be a Millionaire. After winning the top cash prize, contestants are invited to give it all to the winner of Who Wants to be Prime Minister in exchange for a peerage."
