Illegal drug suppliers have launched a harsh criticism of the recent reclassification of methadrone, now a class B drug. Until now, the drug has been legal and freely available. However, following a decision by the Home Office a new class B drug market has been created.

One regional dealer told reporters, ‘I am sick of this government bringing in legislation at the drop of a hat. There was limited consultation and consideration of the logistics of what we have to do. We have been busy concentrating on our core markets, allowing us to deliver a truly class A service, yet now we have to make room for this new product. People don’t realise the difficulties we have in our workplace. We have to pay for experts to carefully evaluate the risks of actual and emerging markets, and we simply cannot trust the banking system these days. We have been campaigning for a long time for the Government to deregulate our market, as there is far too much red tape involved. Cashflow can be difficult: there are lines of credit, but sometimes debt can be murder to sort out. As well as many other offensive weapons and firearms, we have traditionally been armed with a sound business plan. Sadly, this hastily rushed through legislation does not afford us that luxury.
