British bookmakers have demanded that Gordon Brown be referred to prosecutors following allegations of tie-fixing.

Their complaint relates to alleged irregular betting patterns linked to Brown’s appearance at the party leaders’ live TV debate on 15th April. Brown’s decision to sport a ‘flattering’ pink tie was a massive upset for the bookies, who expected the 2 million-to-1 odds-on favourite, red, to romp home.

On-line bookmakers are reported to have lost billions of pounds to one lucky City of Westminster punter, who is reported to have bet millions on pink.

The Prime Minister has issued a statement in which he “totally refutes” the allegations. It also goes on to state that the decision to slash public spending cuts in the subsequent re-release of the Labour manifesto was “entirely coincidental”.
