Miller’s mobile phone calls were intercepted from 2004-6, which she now recognises was a fairly dull period of her life.<br /> “I was doing the shopping and watching lots of tv which I now regret, as that doesn’t sell papers. My existence was fairly tedious and I would like to make a full and unreserved apology to News International, for not giving them enough decent scoops. They had invested resources in me and I feel that I let them down. It was only Jude shagging the nanny that gave my life any relevance at all to their readers. That charming Mr Murdoch deserved better from me.”<br /> Former news editor of the News of the World, Ian Edmondson, has said that Miller’s apology, whilst welcomed, does not go far enough. “Her career was flagging and she then split up with Jude Law and her life became lack lustre. It isn’t easy to bug someone’s phone you know, so we need to sue for the engineers’ wasted time, including when they had to pop down to Dixons to get that ‘vital part’. We will be pursing damages of, say, £100,000.”<br /> Ms Miller's counsel, Hugh Tomlinson QC, said that Miss Miller would like to draw a line under her rather dreary behaviour and if she were given another chance, she would be keen to have phone sex with an unnamed Manchester United midfielder and a girly gossip with Cheryl Cole - just for starters. </p>
