Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg was in crisis talks last night after claims that the site had a deliberate policy of "luring people who were once children".

Facebook has been heavily criticised by the Adult Exploitation and Online Protection (Aeop) centre for not removing "fan pages" for the previously-popular children's TV programme Button Moon, along with a plethora of other mid-eighties memorabilia.

Aeop's director Jim Gumble said that the inclusion of user-maintained pages fondly recollecting classic TV favourites was the online equivalent of "enticing these former children into a car with promises of a 20p mixture and a video of Thundercats".

Facebook have declined to comment, pending the results of their internal meeting, but are expected to acquiesce to growing public pressure after details were released of "pockets of reminiscence" appearing amongst the more usual sordid innuendo and obvious flirting between adults on the site.

"This is cynical adult exploitation", said Mr Gumble, "Facebook are clearly targeting the 30-40 year age group with content like this. They need to have, as an absolute minimum, a 'Panic, Button Moon' option on every page."

A statement from Facebook is expected later at a scheduled press conference.
