Apple have showcased the latest version of the operating system behind the iPhone, including heavy promotion of an intra-application advertising "feature" called iAd.

"To be honest, I don't see the advantage it brings me," said one iPhone user. "It would be like considering moving Formula One to ITV and claiming it would be better because there would be the added bonus of advertising breaks. No-one would even conscience doing that."

Apple founder Steve Jobs was upstaged by iAd whilst showcasing the new operating system's multi-tasking features. Whilst trying to launch the online radio application "Pandora", he had to wait awkwardly for sixty seconds whilst an advertisement for discreet incontinence underwear for women played out behind him. His ill-judged ad-lib about the iPad was not well received by his audience.
