What's going on? Have I missed the ceremony again? The clocks went back when? Oh well, I'll just leave this note that says: "Congratulations, Ludicity - there was some class stuff in there and no mistake. A worthy WoM indeedy." I'd also like to throw in a 'Quiet Man' award to Stan 'The Man' Laurel. Fine jests you've gotten me into, Stanley. .

This is NewsBiscuit's first election - let's see if we can get a story quoted in a national newspaper - an extra prize to anyone whose satirical contribution makes it into the national debate... (Editor)

How likely is this going to happen ? I'm taking about the extra prize :-)

Anyhoo, congrats Luke for winning Writer of the Month.

Congratulations Ludo. Some really great stories. You do a wonderful line in pleasingly surreal takes on current affairs, and the Cohen-ometer rates you as the funniest writer on the site. There, see if that doesn't ruin things for you.

Biscuits of Britain (and the world),

Thank you for your kind words and support over this difficult campaign.

This is no time for soundbites but I do feel the hand of Tony Blair upon my shoulder. For without such people: the Blairs, the Browns, the Camerons and the Cleggs, such a victory would not have been possible.

I believe it was St Francis of Biscuitry who once said: Where there is discord may we bring parody, where there is error may we bring scorn. Where there is doubt may we bring a sequence of increasingly bad puns. And where there is despair may we bring a story about the Large Hadron Collider.

Thank you, thank you. I raise my mug to you all.

Lots of Love,

Congratulations on your election Mr./Mrs./Miss./Ms. <strike>Lucidtity</strike> Ludicity, and well deserved victory I must say. May I also take this opportunity to thank Mr. Ed for the honourable mention. Does that entitle me to a NB teabag, or at the very least, to the retention of my deposit?

I think a mention for Stan would be appropriate too, ed. 1 FP and 7 NiBs isn't much of a football chant but it's a damn fine achievement.

Nice one Ludo (qv earlier mentions). How about a proper photo?

And I'm pleased to see that MADJEZ is to be promoted from 'guest'. He was starting to use the place like a hotel.

P.S. you still owe me two mugs, ed.

Apologies for the delay in announcing this month's Writer of the Month, but an unforeseen Easter Break caught us off guard and we spent the rest of the time trying to work out the correct spelling of 'Ludicity'. As already widely predicted he/she (hard to tell from that photo) is the Writer of the Month for March with an impressive half a dozen front pages, plus a clutch of News In Briefs and a left alert or two for good measure. Well done Ludi - and great to have a new name on the trophy.

Honourable mentions also due for JP1885, Des Custard, Oxbridge, AdrianJ, and Madjez making a strong enough debut to deserve not to be referred to as 'guest' any day now. And also (as has been pointed out below) to Stan Laurel, who has been a constant presence in the News In Brief section as well as penning a great front page and appearing in the archives section to boot.

Thanks to everyone who posted a story or suggested a one liner... This is NewsBiscuit's first election - let's see if we can get a story quoted in a national newspaper - an extra prize to anyone whose satirical contribution makes it into the national debate...
