Rikkor, don't be a bitch. Of the canine or other variety.
Stoopy, you're a legend.
Wally, you'll be a legend for a lot longer now you've kicked the weed.
Now I'm going to be a paragon of good health and feed my unborn child some white wine. Mmmmm.

Christ Rikkor that's witty. Have you thought about changing your dog to one of those small, yappy breeds. They're nice and easy to kick. Hey!-just like you.
Sorry Wallster, I came on here to say congrats and keep it up and got a bit distracted.

Stoopy, please start drinking and smoking again. Your writing was much funnier. Remember, all great authors were and are hideous alcoholics who smoke a lot (yes, including Shakespeare, Gerard "Not So Manley" Hopkins and Jackie Collins).

Keep it up Walls
Like MCA says - You will always feel the urge, no matter how long you go. But stick with it.
Stoopy - 65 days sounds more like a sentence than a trial. But that's the way I did it too - break the pub/beer/just one more won't hurt routine.
It helps if you haven't got any mates too.

My grandad stopped for 32yrs. He started smoking again after minor surgery. When he came round from the anaesthetic, the first thing he did was head to the smoking room. (This was when there were smoking rooms on every hospital ward, including Maternity).

Don't want to piss on your parade but I once gave up smoking for two years, then started again. A couple of years after that, I finally gave up. It's been 12 years now AND I COULD STILL DO WITH A BLOODY CIGARETTE!

I fucking hate smug ex-smokers.

(But give it a few weeks for the Champix to kick in.)

Good luck Stoopy.

I found one of the most helpful things in my struggle was that people no longer smoke inside pubs.

Every time I've tried in the past, it's been the 'oh just the one then' cigarette in the pub which has been my downfall.

I sure hope you're able to kick the habit. There's a fantastic feeling of smugness to be had in becoming a born again non smoker.

Well done Wallster. Keep it up.

I'm taking part in a long clinical trial, and I won't get paid if I smoke or drink.

I'm hoping that 65 days without beer will help me cut the association between drinking and smoking.

There's no other way I could stop smoking. I'm no quitter.

Well done you, Wallster - that's fantastic.
And your wife is a very open-minded woman. My husband's been trying that for years, but I insist we remain in the valley.

Some of you may remember last October when I rather boldly announced that after 20 odd years of blissful addiction, I'd finally decided to stop smoking.

And many of you kindly reminded me of the painful torment of a cancerous death that awaited me should I fall off the fag wagon.

Well, next Wednesday will see the completion of my 6th entirely smoke free month. Whoop-de-doo. Never thought I'd see the day.

To celebrate, I'm taking the wife up Snowdon on Saturday. She'll enjoy that.
