Insiders blame a combination of thick regional accents, and confusing 'trendy' new cake products for the gaffe.</p> <p>John Havers for Aldi confirmed that a raid at the Yorkshire Depot saw 1500 of the cakes "stolen". Head Office re-supplied Yorkshire the next day.</p> <p>This was reported to West Yorkshire Police who "initially seemed disinterested" and gave him a "crime number". When I mentioned we were selling Stollen Cakes the mood changed and an armed team arrived 4 minutes later. There are no hard feelings and we've sent ten Panettones to Divisional Police Headquarters, not stollen. </p>
