Thanks Ramblesid.

Bloody hell. Sorry about that.

I can see why there aren't many male school teachers now.

My friend did a short training course with the FA on football coaching for juniors. He said at least half the course was about dealing with accusations about touching, with a further significant chunk of time spent on how to deal with the parents when little Johnny isn't given his favourite role in central midfield.

Thanks for enlightening me.

Happy Easter.

Just for you Stoopy, can't go around boring people with chat about whatever:
Ex good pal of mine from the hippie days does teachers training in the 70s then wanders into working at a children’s home. 35 years later, after an uneventful life, still at the same home, semi- retired, he gets pulled in by the police. Someone they’ve arrested for a serious crime has mentioned his name as a reason for being a nasty piece of scum. Before you know it, not only lawyers but the police are calling on everyone who’d been through the home reminding them they’d be significant compensation claims available if my pal were to be found guilty. After a couple of years work they eventually find about 15 (blokes) out of the several thousand they’ve interviewed, willing to testify against him. All of them have criminal records and no one story would hold any water but the jury go with the idea of no smoke without fire and convict him. He gets fifteen years but dies, on the IOW, hilariously, a year later of a heart attack.
You never really know a person and if this guy had been accused of messing about with little girls I might have thought it possible. He was never married, although always had a girlfriend but after years of association, dossing on the same floor and such like if a bloke was interested in little boys, you’d get some inkling. No one else I know that knew him thought there was a chance of his guilt either.
As I appeared as a character witness I got a bit involved and found it’s happening all over. The no win no fee merchants are not just increasing your council tax. Care home workers are easy pickings for the criminals some of the lovely little children they’ve cared for turn out to be.
Hopefully most of those in jail are guilty but there’s no doubt quite a few aren’t. Most of those will also get no parole, as you have to show remorse by admitting your guilt before such a thing is considered.

Ramblesid,

Yes, I'm interested

Mary. It's Rule 43, as far as I know. They put you on a different section, under rule 43.

One of the most fascinating interviews I've ever done was with a policeman who was banged up. He was put under special protection (section 42 is it?), as he was responsible for many of the inmates being there. He and his cellmate struck up a friendship, with the cellmate protecting him from the daily attempts to harm him, including conspiracies amongst his fellow cons to empty the boiling contents of their hot water flasks into his face. After three really rough months, he was released (his conviction had been a touch dodgy) and as he left the prison, he broke one of the first rules of imprisonment and asked what his cellmate had done. He was serving 10 years for molesting a 7-year-old girl. The policeman told me that of all the terrible experiences he'd had behind bars, that moment was by far the worst.
Anyway, the interview beat the hell out of asking EastEnders actresses their top beauty tips for once...

There are a lot of so called paedophiles who are totally innocent but are locked up at the moment purely because of the compensation given to "victims" and the trawling methods of the police. However, not wishing to be boring or too serious about anything I'll keep it to myself, unless anyone shows an interest.

Yep, I think that generally, "White Collar" crims, are viewed as not real criminals, but are perceived as quite clever, and according to Hollywood, go on to help poor downtrodden, there-because-of-society's-fault criminals to read.
Sex offenders, and paedophiles are the lowest of the very low, yet retain a loathing for the police for putting them there. And remember, these are a group of people who seldom accept that what they've been convicted for is wrong. So there is a resentment too.

I was going somewhere with this, but I seem to have lost my train of tho...

Basically, he's a bent copper as far as the criminal fraternity is concerned. You don't get worse than this in normal crime terms. However sex offenders are in a different league.

Yes, but hang on. If he was a fraudster, surely that puts him up the pecking order from a sex criminal, especially child molestors.

And, for a fraudster, I would have thought a criminal who conned his way up into the top ranks of the met police would be lauded by the other lags.

I just don't understand the logic.

Has political correctness gone mad? Or is it a case of feminism going too far?

If you don't involved in crime, you get the criminals you deserve.

I read a newspaper story bout disgraced cop Ali Desai, who is getting beaten up and taunted in prison.

The thing is, according to the story, for his own safety he's in a special prison, normally used for sex offenders.

How come sex offenders are looking down their nose at him? Until recently, he was still actually a serving policeman.

I'll never understand the prison pecking order. Surely, a fraudster should be higher up the criminal hierarchy than a child molester. Let alone a high ranking police officer.

Can anyone explain how the social ranking works? Is it anything to do with political correctness going mad?

Maybe this complicated new hierachy / social fabric would make a good subject for a wallchart, that could be given away free with a popular newspaper.

(I think I'd actually buy a paper if they had one of these wallcharts. Yes, even the Daily express. Although I might draw the line at the Daily Star.)
