I did love the Bulwer-Lytton entry about twin carburettors above the manifold and chapter seven of the service manual, Mr Will. Solid stuff, that.

I did submit once to Bulwer-Lytton, have spent the last 3 years trying to come up with a worse/better opening line.

The bulwer-lytton site is a really good one, Mr Will. It is certainly worth reading through its many pages and considering a submission.

Folks say that if you listen real close at the height of the full moon, when the wind is blowin' off Nantucket
Sound from the nor' east and the dogs are howlin' for no earthly reason, you can hear the awful screams of the
crew of the “Ellie May,” a sturdy whaler Captained by John McTavish; for it was on just such a night
when the rum was flowin' and, Davey Jones be damned, big John brought his men on deck for the first of several screaming contests. (2009 Winner)

Clearing out the mobile dumpster we call a family car today, came accross a stack of Roger Hargreaves' "Little Miss" books. On the top was one titled "Little Miss Late". Whatever next? "Little Missed Period" perhaps, followed 8 months later by "Little Mistake left in a phonebox outside the hospital".

"Swallows and Amazons" didn't really live up to the potential of it's title either.
