He gets a few details wrong and adopts a slightly patronising tone but he says some nice things about us and seems to know we exist.</p> <p>The news has electrified the country and Britain is now phoning up all its friends, asking how they are and slyly introducing the subjects of George Bush's new book in to the conversation.</p> <p>While Australia, Canada and New Zealand seemed genuinely pleased for us, France, as ever, tried to rain on our parade. She kept changing the subject and feigning nonchalence. When she was actually listening, she kept asking silly questions like "Wasn't zat an illegal war?". However, France has obviously read George Bush's book, because she pointed out that George Bush had spelt Britain's name wrong, so she's obviously bitter.</p> <p>And guess what? they're making a TV documentary about the Iraq wars and Britain might be in it! No promises mind. They may have to get Texas to play the part of Britain, because Texas is bigger box office in the important flyover state audiences that can make or break a movie.</p> <p>Last night, from Lands End to John O'Groats, a carnival atmosphere was reported, as excitement swept across this small rainy island. </p>
