Talking very slowly and loudly is the best course when dealing with ignorant savages who speak unknown languages. Zadok's piece was much appreciated by the Translation/Interpretion community.

Eh? How can it be too much information that a new month had just started? According to my calendar, we are now into the month of November, and before we know it, we'll start a new month called December.
If you're reading more into the passage of time than was intended, you've got me stumped!

Congratulations to ianslat our Writer of the Month for October. Reclaiming the title he first held in November 2008, ianslat scored five excellent FPs including the zeitgeisty news that Middle Class families are to strike over benefits cuts, and the magnificent ‘Henry VIII may have lied on his Match.com profile’. With a handful of strong NiBs to boot ianslat runs out a worthy winner, but honourable mentions should go to Stan Laurel, Fin Robertson, Gary Stanton and Rick Westwell for a brace apiece of solo FPs among many other contributions.

As we mentioned last month, we’re changing the criteria under which the award is decided in order to recognise a wider contribution to the site. This is to be based on a formula so secret, even we don’t know what it is yet. However, to drop a few hints on the nature of the sophisticated algorithms that will help identify the next winner, in the past month we’ve appreciated the efforts of contributors, including WoM runner-up Rick Westwell, in developing ideas posted by others on the submissions board -- which is what Newsbiscuit is all about -- and would like to congratulate Zadok on having the October front page story that received the most hits with ‘Teaching of foreign languages to be replaced by ‘talking very slowly’ lessons’. We’d also like to congratulate everyone who contributed to the Dead Sea Scrolls classifieds, which developed into an excellent example of the broader range of comedy that we can use on the front page’s Left Alert spot, even if it does mean restricting your chances to see our award winning ads for Newsbiscuit mugs.

Well done again to ianslat, and thanks to everyone for the continued contributions that are helping the site to continue growing in its fifth year.
