I'd like to discus it first. Let's slow down. It's a marathon not a sprint. We need to hammer out a few details. Javelin on board yet? She's a great secretary. You'll be for the high jump if you don't.

>Anyone want to give me a few hundred quid to help develop my website which randomly >displays a picture of an athlete from the commonwealth games? Could be a runner...

I think you'll find there are a few hurdles to overcome first.

Would that mean that, in effect, you have a web site about a web site?

Chip Paper : You could start by opening a window dear
Anybody who says something nice about your sub clearly knows what they’re on about and those who don’t rate it are twats – it really is that simple.
Yes – you must always factor the Facebook factor too
Serious bit - just be honest, realistic and remember this is not real life.
So if somebody does upset you, they are not really your sworn enemy who you hopes dies in a car crash - no more than if somebody congratulates you they should not be considered as suitable godparents for Tammi and Nigel.

Yes indeed thank you.I know from Facebook that many of us were concerned about this very issue but were reluctant to bring the subject up here on chat.
The don't 'stress' advice is particularly sage given that this is a place for all things humourous.Just enjoy the subs and each others company.

edit; You see how I spelt 'humerous' just to make you laugh ? Back to normal now.

The general etiquette appears to be that you wait graciously for a small handful of replies, then reply yourself with dignity and restraint. Or you can just bump them up for the craic. I have done so shamelessly and it doesn't appear to be frowned upon. Well, not too badly anyway. Really though, I wouldn't stress about it as it will not detract from the quality of the sub, and whilst it does bump it to the top, the editor is rather more thorough than that It is no more likely to get published, hence I don't think it bothers anyone. Therefore, just reply as and when you see fit.

Now creating an alter-ego, or several, and voting for yourself many times - there's a touchy subject!

Hello all

Though I'm a big fan, I submit very infrequently and am only just getting to grips with the new - and much improved - Writers' Room.

What I wanted to ask was this... What is the etiquette when responding to feedback to submissions now that we have 'pop-to-the-top' for subs?

Previously, if you posted a 'Thank You' for generous feedback, you wouldn't upset the chronological order of submissions by pushing your effort back to the top of Page One (and consequently shoving a more recent sub off it).

With the new system, I am hair-twistingly torn as to what's the done thing (sad, nail-chewing, obsessive that I am). Any pointers gratefully received .... and duly acknowledged... or should I....
