Scandinavia awoke this morning to find founding member Sweden had completely collapsed and fallen apart during the night.
Eye witness accounts told of ' bits coming off and draws not shutting properly' and by morning the whole country was lying in a big heap blocking Norwegian access to the Skagerrak Strait.
Geologists are baffled as to what may have happened to Sweden, normally one of the most stable and reliable countries in the region, although rumours of Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) have been rife amongst neighbours for years.
Rescue workers on the ground are investigating the possibility that two small brackets that should have been used to secure the border with Finland had not been used, making the top Kattegat shelf unstable.
The theory that Sweden was not put together properly 'in the Beginning' (Genesis 1:1) was given some credibility when the instruction manual was found down the back of Denmark's sofa along with a Chinese take-away menu and a chocolate Smurf.
Problems continued to escalate for the region well into the afternoon.
Despite Scandinavia being able to produce proof of purchase for Sweden, they were told at checkout it was non refundable unless returned in its original box which should never have been used to keep their hamster in anyway.
Religious faiths around the world have claimed this proves God did indeed create the heaven and the earth in only six days and that Sweden was only there to maximise the bit of space left over after the water feature had been built and was never meant to last.
Which would explain why Sweden has always looked like something assembled on a Sunday morning with the help of one of your mates before the pubs opened...oh, it was!!
Not a very good IKEA after all
