Good call. I get all my news through U2. The orange sunglasses alone signal "truth" to me.

Jeni, I think we've been there before on FB about the teacher(a work mate's partner) who couldn't identify the big landmass to the left of the Caribbean on Google Earth (the Americas).

It's not new, though for different reasons. Back in the 80's I had a history teacher, the daughter of an Army Major who had grown up on army bases and had started her teaching career on them. In a lesson on Russian history about the Tsarist govt ordering troups to fire on demonstrators she said that this sort of thing was always a turning point for a government, crossing the line, and could we think of a similar point in history. I offered up "Bloody Sunday, Northern Island". She fixed me with an odd look, then claimed that she had never heard of it. Thanks to U2's "Sunday Bloody Sunday" track, most of the rest of the class had, she was never trusted as a fount of knowledge and I got a bit of kudos in class for showing her up as some sort of revisionist. If she'd argued the point with me I would have had some respect for her. (She also used to go nuts if you didn't colour in the sea shore on a map in blue, clearly unstable).

I've been a tad busy this weekend, but had to let you know about a conversation I had with one of the Deputy Heads at the school where I work. Chatting in the staff room on Friday about a set of extremely disturbed identical twin boys, obviously known to staff as "The Krays", she told me that disciplining them constantly for their multiple daily transgressions was not the Pangaea to our problems. Once I'd controlled myself enough to ask if she meant panacea, she explained that she'd gotten confused because she'd been teaching P7s about, wait for it,Plate Teutonics in Geography.
I gave up after that, I didn't think my bladder could take it.
