The food world is in a state of shock after it was revealed that a well-known bon viveur isn’t French.

‘It’s come as a shock to us all,’ said food and drink critic, Charles Henley. ‘As Fred was known as a bon viveur, we all assumed he was French, as one would.’

‘I must confess I had my doubts,’ said Raymond Blanc. ‘He was a bon viveur was Fred Bagshaw, so you think he must be French. But it was the angle at which he wore his cloth cap that made me suspicious. In France, we do it another way, more – how do you say? Jaunty.’

‘I’m fucking gutted. Bon viveur Fred Bagshaw, not French! This is a real fucking turn up for the livres,’ said Gordon Ramsay.
