It is clear he's very unwell

Actually, this suggests that he’s had radiotherapy treatments prior to which his immune status was altered by factor iv inversion (a condition which affects the interpretation of double-negative blood tests, i.e.: he would not have been given radiotherapy if the tests had been accurately interpreted)…which means not only that his blood will not clot but will soon separate, while he is clinging to life. He would need two 28-day cycles of daily plasma perfusions to attenuate this mishap (yes, he needs blood, buckets of it!) but an important factor in late-stage prostate cancer is morphine tolerance or intolerance. Given the other factors, it is most likely that he is morphine-intolerant and experiencing horrifying hallucinations.

Ghaddafi is dying the kind of death you don't know enough to wish on your worst enemy. It is urgent to recognise Libya’s new government, provide military and logistical support and to outlaw his wretched litter of whelps.

The Communities Secretary Eric Pickles is defending proposals to install coin-operated street lights in every city across England as 'a way to ensure councils spend the money we give them appropriately'.

The plans, outlined in the Localism Bill, will see current sodium bulbs replaced with new LED ones which will be operated by the insertion of a coin or token.

"Every year, the Government give local authorities tens of millions of pounds and every year they complain that they don't have enough. Coin-operated lights are just a small step towards us making sure every penny they get is spent correctly."

"The money will be given just once and recycled, ensuring that it's forever tied to the operation on the lights. Of course, councils could decide to keep the cash and get rid of their street lighting, but they'd risk the wrath of letters to the local paper if they did."

Under the scheme, council workers would visit every light in their authority area once a day, inserting either £5 in coin or tokens to make the lights stay on overnight. Then in daylight hours, the same worker would return to empty the switching box, before coming back just before dusk to re-insert the monies.

"It's a ludicrous scheme" Martin Aniston from the union UNISON said. "At a time when councils are having to cut staff and save money across the board, to get workers to travel around a council area to make sure lights come on is profligate."

However, he said he hoped that if the plans are adopted, those workers who operate the lights would be encouraged to adopt UNISON membership.

Mrblacker on "Disappearance of pond ice is 'symptomatic' of Global Warming say campaigners"

Green campaigners say the melting of a sheet of ice covering a water feature in the Midlands city centre, is undeniable evidence of climate change.

The sheet - on the Waterwindow in Coventry - has been a feature of the city since the December Ice Age, and is starting to melt as temperatures rise.

"This is definitive evidence that the world is getting warmer and something needs to be done about it before this valuable natural resourse disappears for ever." Jacinta Horrigan told anyone who'd listen.

"This ice formed naturally in a defined period of cooling and now the authorities are letting is melt without intervening to protect what's left. It's diabolical."

"They've also been doing their best to break it up, by getting a man to smash the ice on a regular basis. This was done on the pretext of 'health and safety' but we know it's just wilful destruction and a further demonstration of how those in power are raping the planet."

However, a spokesman for Coventry City Council said the ice was a serious threat as people had been seen trying to stand on it and that Ms Horrigan only became interested in it when her niece told her about the ice sheet and had caught pneumonia by trying to skate on it.

“It’s quite a relief to get back to normal, after all the arctic weather”, said Bob Hargreaves, president of the Road Hauliers Association. “We have consignments of foodstuffs in our North of England depots that need to be delivered to shops in the south, and we have consignments of foodstuffs in our South of England depots that need to be delivered to shops around the north. If the snow had stayed much longer, people might have begun to question why we couldn’t leave most of these consignments where they were, deliver them locally, and thereby relief our already overburdened road system of a few thousand lorries. And then where would we be?”...

No: Ireland is Thatcher's promised land, a farcical fate which awaits us all. That said, it is also true that Hell is presentaly freezing over and providence no longer designates who wins at CasinoCap.

In the meantime, this Irish shanty re-write was censored on The Guardian. Can't be all that bad, then:

http://www.guardian.co.uk/business/2010/nov/27/ireland-bailout-dublin-protest?showallcomments=true#end-of-comments
There is them that makes money the whole time they sleep
There is many have houses that they canna keep
There is some that have jobs
That not even wogs
Will rise of a mornin’ the wages to seek.

Oh it’s Nay! No! Never! No-nay-never no more!
Will gangsters and banksters be safe on our shores.

Oi went to the market me fat pig to sell
An’ when I got there ‘tis sorry to tell:
Our own hedge funds had hijacked
All the taties and hog backs
An’ the sheriff and army and gardai as well.

So it’s Nay! No! Never! No-nay-never no more!
Will gangsters and banksters be safe on our shores.

I’ll tell thee a riddle of one two and three:
A Frog, Scot and Irish sat under a tree,
An’ a branch of it fell
On the Never-Do-Well:
Not on Paddy or Marcel or Mac, but on thee.

Will that goofy guy in asinine hag drag make us swallow? Neo-Lib poster child missed the moment to resolve the debt/bank crisis. By absorbing the debts, the [Irish] government is condemning its people to a decade of grinding poverty and a deficit that's 32 per cent of GDP, a record for any country in the EU.

Freemarket rules in the race to the bottom
None can rule over chaos, and no-one can stop 'em:
Champions of nonsense, of vacuum and vanity
Voting for this lot will challenge your sanity.
