'We've spent the best part of two months trawling all the libraries, graveyards, birth, death certificates offices in the British Isles and we cannot find any family connected to Paxman' commented a frustrated Smith ' We had the same trouble with Giles Brandreth but we thought that was because no one wanted to admit to being any part of his family and all records new and old were destroyed by any embarrassed family members'.</p> <p>Jeremy Paxman was not available for comment as we were told that he was in the middle of a making a important phone call home. </p>
