"Proper Ukrainian vodka" can be anti-freeze drunk out of a car radiator if the moment is right. It brings new meaning to "blind drunk'.

I've got a friend who knows how to make proper ukrainian vodka.

I wonder how easy it is to get a license to make vodka.

Mind you, it only costs a pound a bottle in Ukraine and it's superb stuff. We should just pipe it into the UK.

It stops the mixing, so you get a pint that is dark at the top and light at the bottom. Cool in those days perhaps.

I used to make Boots lager kits, with the addition of a tin of Golden Syrup to make it stronger. I can recommend this.

I used to make my own beer, when I was at school.

I started with a Boots Home Brew kit, and graduating to boiling up muslin bags full of hops.

What's this trick with the spoon?

I often used the technique of: get barrel, attach tap to barrel, place mouth under tap, open mouth, turn tap on. I know it sounds complicated but it worked for me.

Latest favourite tipple is a heady mix of a can of Abbot Ale and a (smaller) can of Mackeson. The trick is to mix them in a jug about an hour before drinking. This gives the gas a chance to escape and the temperature rise a bit.

I know it's really only black and tan, but I'd recommend it.

But make sure it's mixed. Don't go poncing about with pouring the Mackeson over the back of a spoon.

It's much more complex than Porter, tastewise.
