Travel writer and former Monty Python star, Michael Palin has announced that he won't be running for President of the United States. This not wholly unexpected development is the first of what is believed to be over 6 billion similar decisions not to run for president.

Authorities in the US confirmed they have Senator and former US Presidential hopeful John McCain (Rep) in custody after a tense standoff in Notre Dame University Chapel (Indiana) where McCain attempted to drive a stake through ex Governor Sarah Palin's heart.

McCain was prevented from the assasination as he couldn't lift the stake above his head high enough to penetrate Palin's chain mail corset.
News Biscuit sources say McCain was screaming 'she has to be stopped! for God's sake ....' as he was dragged away by handy FBI Officers in monks' cowls.

A Facebook post by the deranged McCain posted some hours earlier outlined his chilling plan "I started this, I brought her into the world, I must end it. We're headed towards a new dark age. Too many people have suffered as she has messed up our language, confused Joe Sixpack on basic issues like whether Africa is a country, and rewritten history. Paul Revere shall be avenged."

Ex-Gov Palin said in her TV show on Fox less than an hour after the attack that McCain was just really an enemy of freedom. "y'all know how if ya hang out with the wrong crowd ya get tainted. It's like how those French people all backed Adolf Hitler and the Nazis in the first world war, and how the British have now joined both in one world Government and formed a new country called Europe. McCain just spent too much time with President Osama. It's called the Stocking Syndrome."

Oddly when Newsbiscuit went to check all these references on Wikipedia minutes later they were all confirmed.

Unnamed source, actually US correspondent John Dixon, says everyone knows Palin is actually the expression of the forces of darkness, and McCain's attempted assassination was the only sane move for the war hero. "It's just that the rest of the Republicans are so boring she's the only hope for a good election pageant next year."

@Sinnick thanks for the comments. Points taken, but with respect if it would have to be Photoshopped and padded out to make it "better" it would no longer be what it is. I'll bear the observation in mind for next time, though. Cheers.

Just spotted this, excellent work & stars. Couild be a FP after a few tweaks to lengthen it, IMHO.

What is the military chappie doing ?
What are the magazines ?
Who is the 15 year old girl at the back ?
I'm sure Red could add some subtle lighting effects, and replace the drinks with something more appropriate.
Some "accessories" on the blank wall would add a little value

Go for it !

“It was probably one of the most anxiety-filled periods of time, I think, in the lives of the people who were assembled here yesterday,” spokesman John Brennan said. “The minutes passed like days.”

President Obama later responded to persistent rumours that images were about to be released to the media. "The public do not want to see a person who has been the victim of a double facial shooting," he asserted, "it's not pretty."

A later press release confirmed that Ms. Palin has been buried by seamen after a brief but emotional ceremony. A close family member, speaking on condition of anonymity, told us "it's what she would have wanted".

British Business Secretary Vince Cable is in Libya and “no longer willing” to work for the Conservative and Lib Dem regime, the Libyan Foreign Office says.

"He travelled here under his own free will. He has told us he is resigning," said a Libyan spokesman.

His apparent defection comes as protesters in the UK are retreating from former strongholds around West London.

“Vince Cable is one of the most senior figures in Clegg’s coalition government and his role was to represent the regime’s policy towards business enterprise – something that he is no longer willing to do,” the spokesman continued.

“We encourage those around Clegg to abandon him and embrace a better future for the UK that allows political transition and real reform that meets the aspirations of the British people.

“We are in talks with several other high-ranking officials who disagree with Clegg’s policies and are willing to grant them safe harbour in Tripoli. But not Ed Miliband.”

Libyan intelligence officials hope that his deep knowledge of the coalition regime will help bring about its early end, diplomatic sources commented.

Mr Clegg arrived in Tripoli on what is believed to have been the back of a Libyan military donkey, our correspondent adds.

However, British officials have been quick to downplay the impact of Vince Cable’s apparent defection.

Liberal Democrat spokesman Michael Moore denied Cable’s loss was a setback for the regime and called the minister ‘an old man who cannot take the pressure’.

Fighting continued to rage in and around disputed shops including Fortnum and Masons, as UK Uncut protesters tried to cling on to recent gains.

Even as police loyal to the coalition advanced on UK Uncut strongholds, opponents were heartened by the Cable news.

However, Mr Moore denied Cable had defected, saying: ‘This is not a happy piece of news, but people are saying, “So what? If someone wants to step down that’s his decision."

‘Yes, Vince Cable worked in high-ranking positions of the government but we don’t think he will sacrifice the safety of the country unless his Werther’s Original supply is threatened.'

But Labour opposition leader Ed Miliband declared: ‘Clegg is an injured wolf and an injured wolf is much more dangerous than a healthy wolf. But we hope the defections continue and I think he’ll find himself with no one around him.’

Meanwhile, Sarah Palin told reporters last night: “I am very, very confused.”

President Barrack Obama took a moment out of his busy schedule today to dismiss his presumptive rival in the 2012 US General Election as "a grade-A moron", even though at the time he was bestowing an official Presidential "pardon" on two 45-pound turkeys.

"Today, I have the awesome responsibility of granting a presidential pardon to a pair of turkeys," said the most powerful man on the planet standing in the White House Rose Garden and somehow managing to keep a straight face.

"Now, for the record, let me say that it feels pretty good to stop at least one shellacking this November" Mr Obama added, referencing the humiliating defeat Democrats suffered during the recent Mid-Term elections to the Tea Party Movement, which Obama characterizes as "populist, pandering, and intellectually sub-par".

"My presumptive opponent, Sarah Palin," said Obama, "Will continually sink to the lowest common denominator to win the support of the American people, often stooping to vacuous, crowd-pleasing publicity stunts that have little or no political substance. I think America deserves better than that".

Mr Obama then granted an official presidential pardon to the turkeys, "Apple" and "Cider". In the past, a Presidential pardon was given only to human beings who had committed serious crimes, but had shown true remorse.

Please tell me I don't look like an idiot

Apple and Cider apparently earned their pardon, which means they will not be cooked for any American's Thanksgiving Dinner, by strutting to music before a panel of "judges" in California. They were then driven to Washington, D.C., though they probably have no idea that they have journeys approximately three thousand miles or that they have narrowly escaped a premature death.

Meanwhile, unemployment is estimated at 9.6%, US national debt stands at nearly $14 trillion with a $1.3 trillion deficit in the Federal Budget, and the nation remains mired in two unwinnable military conflicts.

"Sarah Palin," continued Obama, after the turkeys had been removed, "lacks the experience and intelligence to deal with the serious issues facing the United States of America today. I promise you I will devote every ounce of my abilities to solving these important problems."

"Except," added Obama, "When I'm doing stupid bullshit like this".
