ronseal on "Brand glitch sees Launch of new Internet overnight sensation delayed to Q1 2013"

The creation of the next big overnight success story, following an organic and spontaneous reaction to a bloke off the street who just happened to strike a chord with the nation, is to be delayed until the first quarter of the new financial year, Newsbiscuit has learned. The problem is understood to involved branding rights for the sensation.

The Sensation, believed to be the latest product from Zeitgeist Digital (the media arm of the Hambleton Corporatation) was delayed after the company's legal and compliance departments clashed with the marketing team who created the concept for the 'unplanned overnight sensation'. The actor, who was groomed for the part of 'geek genius' is to be replaced, after agencies and sponsors said the 'teenage tycoon' needed to exude key brand values that were not being recognised in test marketing among target demographic audiences. A new, less controversial 'maverick' has been found who will quell any nervousness among investors.

The City reacted badly to the news of the delayed launch of the overnight sensation and shares in Hambleton Corporation were down by 10 per cent on the day at close of trading last night. It was hinted that the board could be facing a shareholder revolt, as the launch of a new 'unplanned, totally off the wall internet phenomenon' was a central part of the company's strategy for the next financial year.

'Unless the new unpredictable popular uprising delivers a good set of numbers, there could be some pretty angry shareholders at the next AGM," said analyst Hank Pitts, of Barclays Wealth Hegemony.

'When you're planning a youth rebellion, you want a safe pair of hands,' said an expert, 'Lily Allen perhaps. Or that woman who sang I wish I was a punk rocker. Now those were really well managed internet sensations.'

I do now. I don't recall saying the Americans were stupid as well as fat, but if you say they are...

No, no, no Jeni. You are missing the humor here. The joke is that you slim, trim Britons can't seem to win a war against the Germans without help from the fat, stupid Americans. So, the next time you quail in front of the Hun assault, we will not be able to help you as we are so fat. Get it?

Evening all, just a quick stop by. I've moved and BT seem unable to flick the switch labled "Broadband", (could they be any worse if they were a state run monopoly than a private one? Oh yes, remember the GPO?) so using wifi where I can. Still bating the colonials I see? Nice work, keep it up.

If the US now have to call up obese conscripts then will they have to make all the hatches bigger in tanks to stop troops getting stuck in an amusing Captain Mainwaring way?

Couldn't we just scoop up the excess of Brit youths out for a fight on a Saturday night in the town centres or those who make up inner city gangs and sell them on the US military? Some of them already have their own weapons.

Rikkor, it's not just Americans who are fat, the Germans seem to be catching up, as are the Brits.

It's just that when Americans get fat, they tend to supersize it. Florida seems to hold the world record for the largest people I have ever seen.

Wow! If Americans are too fat to fight, you should all brush up on your German.
