These ‘politicians’, as they are known, keep the reader on the edge of his seat with their bizarre affectations, absurd spouses and inclinations to slip each other’s moorings. The book opens with a naked display of bandwagon-jumping as the eponymous anti-heroine, Sally Bercow, ruthlessly fingers Lord Whose-name-cannot-be-spoken. However, she has her come-uppance when her mortal enemy, Lord You-know-who, gives her the finger back in an emotional and surprising twist.
