7, including yourself.

I didn't think the sub was brilliant either, to be honest, but better than some NiBs I've seen. Trying to be objective, I really think the idea was very good but the plot depended on the one big gag with not enough quips in support, where there is plenty of material. My writing style is far too rigid to get the big laughs, but I'm working on that. Slowly.

If this doesn't get used, it would make a lovely FP come Scottish independance debate time. Say if you twisted it a bit to salami-slice off all the undesirable or unfashionable bits south of the border and designate them as bonus bits for Scotland.

You could have a whale of a time 'bigging up' Scotland and making the UK (sorry - English) Parliament look disingenuously generous while Salmond & co get into conniptions trying to prevent dilution of their heritage. The bits in the middle could flounce about their status.

The Chancellor has today astounded critics by proposing that the City of Liverpool is to be forcibly given independence from the UK. He further announced the construction of a 20 mile wall in the North West of England.

In his annual budget speech, George Osborne justified this bold proposal to revive the UK economy by explaining that unemployment would drop by 165,000 at a stroke, complemented by 40,000 vacancies in the construction and security sectors to establish and maintain the border.

Osborne explained that the Home Office were particularly pleased, as the Police could achieve their targets without further cuts.

He noted that the loss of Liverpool’s comedians, such as Ken Dodd & John Bishop, and the self-reported musical heritage, would be a small, but necessary sacrifice.

Visitors to Liverpool would be given until 31 March to leave.

The Opposition Leader, currently Ed Miliband, accused the Chancellor of doing this just to get popular support, and he would support the proposal only if Newcastle was included in the plan.

The FA is to launch an immediate enquiry following the FA cup tie between non-league Mansfield and premiership Liverpool in which multimillion pound Uruguayan international Luis Suárez scored the controversial winning goal with his hand.

FA spokesman Lord Sir Cedric Ignorecheats said “We need to get to the bottom of this, how can a old geezer of a man with no obvious redeeming features have such a gorgeous young wife 30 years his junior. We are all extremely Jealous”. When asked if a rematch was on the cards he replied “It’s a definite possibility, with the Mansfield players distracted by the nagging question of how their wurzel gummage like chairman John Radford managed to pull his sexy wife Caroline, how can they be expected to concentrate on the game”.

When asked about the handball he replied “It’s a very popular sport on mainland Europe, especially Scandinavia, but won’t catch on over here”

CHELSEA boss Roberto Di Matteo has blasted UEFA for blocking his side's bid to park a bus in front of their goal ahead of tonight's Champions League clash with Barcelona at the Nou Camp.
Chelsea take a 1-0 lead to Spain, after a semi-final first leg which saw Barcelona record an unprecedented 107% possession.
Many believe an ultra-defensive strategy could be the West London side's best hope of reaching the final, but the absence of a large vehicle in the visitors' penalty area may prove a major stumbling block.
During a stormy press conference this morning, a furious Di Matteo said: “Two weeks ago, we made a written application to UEFA to place a standard London double-decker bus in our goalmouth.
“To be told, just hours before kick-off, that there is a height limit of 2.8metres, is simply unacceptable.
“It leaves us very little time to find an alternative vehicle.”
A Chelsea spokesman later confirmed that Kenny Dalglish had loaned the Blues the Vauxhall Combo van his Liverpool side used for their victory parade after February's Carling Cup win over Cardiff.

To some, the craft of search engine optimisation takes a little practice. But not for Ed Milliband. Getting those all-important keywords into the first paragraph comes naturally to the Labour leader. Take his recent speech at the Labour Conference in Liverpool:

"Thank you Conference. It’s great to be in Liverpool. Labour Liverpool. A generation ago a Labour leader came to Conference to condemn the behaviour of a Labour Council in Liverpool. Today I come to Liverpool, proud to hold our Conference in this great city."

In another daring move to sign mediocre British talent, Liverpool Football Club today signed free agent Rebekah Brooks for a fee thought to have broken the British transfer record. A spokesman at the club refused to comment on the fee, saying however, it will probably be revealed by an in depth Sun investigation. Brooks joins the other average underperforming trio of Charlie Adams, Stewart Downing and Andy Carroll all recently offloaded to Anfield by a freakish torrent of dosh showered on their former unsuspecting clubs .
“King” Kenny Dalglish defended his bizarre buying spree, saying about Brooks “I can’t wait to see her patrolling midfield scowling at the opposition, staring down their hard men, and of course letting me know what the squad are saying behind me back.”
