Unfortunately since Mothers Day is on a different day every year the tributes seem entirely pointless. The Sun even showed a mock-up of a headstone bearing the date of her death as 22nd March 2009. A source suggested that the real anniversary was likely to clash with coverage of more important stories like Cheryl Cole’s impending divorce and Sport Relief so they had moved it. If this works it could open up a lot more flexibility in the calendar with Christmas being celebrated in November to give more time for football and Eastenders coverage on the 25th December.
