Prime Minister Gordon Brown was spotted 'nipping' out of the front of No.10 in his dressing gown and slippers, having a short conversation with Chancellor Alistair Darling and then returning home.

This incidence is now confirmed to be because of "loud music" coming from No.11 that was "keeping the children awake".

A spokesperson for No.11, looking slightly hungover, issued a full and complete apology earlier today, saying: "I apologise fully and sincerely for keeping the Prime Minister's family awake after their bedtime and understand the distress this has caused him and the nation. We will not do it again."

No.10 accepted that the chancellor's apology, stating: "The problem was solved quickly and effectively by myself and the chancellor. I think this display of governmental efficiency truly shows what the Labour party is capable of."

The Conservative party, however, has critised the government for "not making suitable long term plans to have prevented such an occurrence happening in the first place".
