When the Friend's friend had left, my mate said "Oh, he's left me a couple of records he's just made, fancy a listen?". I had a look and blow me if the bloke didn't turn out to have been the man behind one of my favourite (obscure now) techno acts of the time. If I'd have known who he was I'd have spent the afternoon pumping him for tips and asking about the album he made (I was into making music then and wrting for a local mag). On reflection it was nice that I didn't know and he didn't let on, so we had a great natter without any pressure on either side, and I have a happy memory of someone whose work I liked.
