			<title>WatcherMark on "Countdown clock to go Digital"</title>

			<description>&#60;p&#62;After the recent controversy caused by switching the scoreboards on their show from an LCD display to monitors, the producers of long-running quiz show and current 'Deal or No Deal' lead-in 'Countdown' have announced that the signature central clock is to change from an analogue face to a digital display.&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;&#60;em&#62;&#34;We've been holding this off too long, it's time to move ahead with current technology&#34;&#60;/em&#62; said a Countdown insider &#60;em&#62;&#34;People want to see everything in HD and 3-D nowadays, an old style clock face just seems to be very second millennium.&#34;&#60;/em&#62;&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;Replacing the clock will be a giant display counting down from thirty to zero. Channel 4 executives have been keen to state that this change will bring many benefits to the show.&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;&#60;em&#62;&#34;On national holidays, we can change the display to different colours. On Valentines Day, we can have the numbers be pink. On Chinese New Year, we can change the display so that it features Chinese characters. The possibilities are simply endless.&#34;&#60;/em&#62;&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;Despite the program makers keenly stating the advantages that the new clock would bring, the news has not had a positive reception by the audience.&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;&#60;em&#62;&#34;I nearly choked on my tea when I found out!&#34;&#60;/em&#62; said one pensioner we interviewed. &#60;em&#62;&#34;It's bad enough I have to watch that prick Edmonds at tea-time every night but how having to put up with this digital clock shite is just too much. I don't even know what f**king HD means, for Christ's sake!&#34;&#60;/em&#62;

			<description>&#60;p&#62;Only a few days after shocking the nation by showing a contestant submitting the word 'Wanker', Channel 4 are facing a fresh scandal against their flagship show Countdown (presented at the moment by some bloke from The Apprentice) with the revelation that dictionary corner beauty Susie Dent is actually a puppet.&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;An insider for the Channel 4 show said &#34;This is one of the secrets that Channel 4 has been keen to cover up, but I don't feel I can participate in this sham anymore. Susie is, and has always been, a puppet operated from under the desk. In fact, we have two men under there; one operating 'Susie' and the other with one of those cheap anagram solvers from Argos providing the words&#34;.&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;Channel 4, who have refused to comment on the situation, have nevertheless pulled all future episodes from the schedule. This week's selection was due to show 'Susie' alongside famous double act The Krankies, however it currently unknown if or indeed when these will ever air. Channel 4 will be filling the schedule with an extra forty-five minutes of wasting time from 'Deal or No Deal'.&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;The Krankies were unavailable to comment.

			<description>&#60;p&#62;The police appeared to make no attempt to arrest the dildos doing the damage.&#60;br /&#62;
On the plus side, they collared a lot of people going 0.01 mph over the speed limit on the same day.

&#60;p&#62;A large student demonstration was swiftly quelled last night as police screened an emergency edition of Countdown in Central London.  Hosts Jeff Stelling and Rachel Riley were called in to host a special screening of the game which was relayed to the massive crowds via huge screens wheeled in by riot police.  &#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;The students, some of whom had been attacking Tory HQ on Millbank, immediately stopped rioting and turned their attention to the beloved mid-afternoon hangover cure.  Many of them attempted to solve a taxing numbers game on the back on their banners and placards, some then citing their inability to do so as evidence of the drastic impact education cuts were already having.  &#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;Police fears were renewed briefly, when the students began frantically waving banners reading 'Rebellion', before it was pointed out to them as the answer to the final round-conundrum.  &#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;A hard-core of protestors remained unmoved by the police's efforts, and continued rioting until the 5.30 repeat of the edition of 'Neighbours' which they had already watched at lunchtime was screened.

			<description>&#60;p&#62;Researchers for the BBC show 'who do you think you are' were left in bemusement after finding no ancestral lineage to Jeremy Paxman which left them to make the only conclusion they could find which was  ' he can't be of this world' said programme spokesman Dan Smith. 'We've spent the best part of two months trawling all the libraries, graveyards, birth, death certificates offices in the British Isles and we cannot find any family connected to Paxman' commented a frustrated Smith ' We had the same trouble with Giles Brandreth but we thought that was because no one wanted to admit to being any part of his family and all records new and old were destroyed by any embarrassed family members'.&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;Jeremy Paxman was not available for comment as we were told that he was in the middle of a making a important phone call home.

			<title>MightyBlair on "&#039;Countdown&#039; presenter &#039;killed by Nick Robinson&#039;"</title>

			<description>&#60;p&#62;The Channel Four programme 'Countdown' is mourning the death of a second long-term presenter after 'Dictionary Corner' mainstay Susie Dent exploded during filming. Producers of the popular afternoon show have cited the unregulated use of hyperbole and metaphor during the election campaign as the primary cause. 'Susie's job was not only to check the spelling of the words offered up by the contestants, but to explain their meaning and context,' said the programmes devastated and rather damp executive producer. 'Susie had a real passion for the English Language and took great pleasure in promoting the beauty and artistry of its nuances. Listening to all the ridiculous language used during the election, especially regarding the debates, simply proved too great a strain'.&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;It is understood that Miss Dent had begun to feel unwell shortly after the first Prime Ministerial debate took place, and it is believed that the catalyst was the media's frequent use of words such as 'exhilarating', 'searing' and 'tense' immediately afterwards. Her poor health was compounded by the media's constant use of nonsensical turns of phrase such as 'we simply haven't seen anything like this before, not since the 1940s' and 'The political landscape has been completely revolutionised and quite possibly will never be the same again'.&#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;The final straw followed the third debate when Miss Dent allegedly read Nick Robinson's account of the proceedings. The BBC's normally restrained political correspondent portrayed the candidates as boxers 'sparring enthusiatically', trading 'sharp exchanges' and at one point, talked of a 'rare Cameron-Brown pincer movement'. Miss Dent is alleged to have appeared on set shortly after, visibly enraged, before sponaneously exploding as the countdown in the first letters game concluded. &#60;/p&#62;
&#60;p&#62;The incident is the second expert death in the last week, after a leading physiologist at Newcastle University melted whilst trying to explain how Gordon Brown's jaw remains attached to his skull, and why Nick Clegg's head is so small in comparison to the rest of his body.
