Ten years ago, Bryan Mayhem from Plymouth opened his first language school (WMYT) in Germany. The school has done so well, that Bryan decided to venture into another area last year: queuing.
“We offer all sorts of courses,” Bryan said. “Short and long term queuing seminars, anti queue jumping training and also courses related to queuing in specific areas such as at a station or at the butchers.”

This is an exclusive interview with Helmut Kurz who is currently taking part in a long term queuing seminar in Frankfurt. Please note that the interview appears as it took place and has not been edited.

Reporter: “Helmut, nice to meet you. How long have you been taking part in this queuing seminar now?”
Helmut: “Yes, you too. I am being here now for 23 days, a long time, but it is fun.”
R: “23 days is indeed a long time, and I see you have your tent and cooker with you.”
H: “Yes, we all are having a tent and cooker, it is important to keep warm and drink a lot of tea.”
R: “But aren't you forgetting the “queuing” part of things? Don't you find yourself just concentrating on camping?”
H: “No, no. We are very much queuing. We are also liking the camping. I am meeting new people.”
R: “Helmut, your English seems to be quite good, where did you learn it?”
H: “I am learning with Bryan at his school “Ways of Making You Talk”, it is a nice school.”
R: “But don't you find you get your tenses mixed up a little bit sometimes.”
H: “No, no. There are many tenses here, but mine is the green tent, and I am having my name on it, look here.”

The German people seem to love learning to queue. People from all over the country are taking part in Bryan's seminars. But at times the whole thing does seem a bit puzzling.

R: “Yes, I see. So Helmut, what are you queuing for? What is at the end of the queue?”
H: “Yes, at first I not know, it is a secret. But then someone tell me there is a beautiful chamber with many nice things at the end of the queue.”

Bryan said that his aim was to bring a bit more order into the daily lives of the German people and finds it is having a very positive effect.
“They are very gifted queuers,” he said.

In the future, Bryan also plans on opening an English Cooking School.
“Could be a tough one,” he said.

In another daring move to sign mediocre British talent, Liverpool Football Club today signed free agent Rebekah Brooks for a fee thought to have broken the British transfer record. A spokesman at the club refused to comment on the fee, saying however, it will probably be revealed by an in depth Sun investigation. Brooks joins the other average underperforming trio of Charlie Adams, Stewart Downing and Andy Carroll all recently offloaded to Anfield by a freakish torrent of dosh showered on their former unsuspecting clubs .
“King” Kenny Dalglish defended his bizarre buying spree, saying about Brooks “I can’t wait to see her patrolling midfield scowling at the opposition, staring down their hard men, and of course letting me know what the squad are saying behind me back.”

Greenianman on "Nation marks anniversary of day when it was decided to mark anniversaries"

Flowers have been laid and candles lit on the pavement outside Broadcasting House today to mark the solemn moment when, on this day 30 years ago, senior broadcasters first mapped out the schedule for increasing the rate at which they would mark wartime anniversaries.

With a calm fortitude, an uncharacteristically sober and meditative journalist said, "I'm here to remember one of my closest friends who was at that meeting. So few of the original participants are still alive — it's important we mark this day before it passes completely out of living memory."

Anniversary Day gained a new momentum when, in 2005, the German Ambassador said, "The British behave as if they had conquered Hitler's hordes single-handedly. And they continue to see us as Nazis, as if they have to refight the battles every evening."

When confronted with this quotation, an enthusiastically patriotic Englishman simply said, "1966 - 4-1. What more can I say?"
