Well some unnamed person gave me one star, so I'm very grateful you guys have brought it back a more respectable total.

It is frustrating...if my sub is genuinely naff, I'm happy to get one star, but would appreciate at least a comment as to why.

Following the recent mysterious removal and attempted sale of Banksy’s street art, a new black market has quickly emerged for the wall plaster behind other valuable artwork.

Earlier this week, a London art gallery was broken into and the plaster behind eight valuable paintings was stolen. The paintings themselves were reportedly used as ‘dividers’ between each slab in order to prevent the plaster from scuffing.

The police commented, “these well preserved sections of plaster can command high prices on the black market and of course are much harder to trace than stolen paintings”.

The police have arrested one of the criminal gang who was found unconscious at the scene after he had apparently cut through the wiring to the wall plug beneath the painting. The thief was clearly unaware the wiring was running down the wall even though he had plugged his power chisel into the same socket.

The apprehended plaster thief, Dave Phillips, who openly admits his guilt, explained “the real money is in the party walls within galleries. These walls have a painting on both sides so we can cut a hole straight through and sell it for twice the price. You just have to take the risk that the wall could have electrics in it or be load-bearing.”

After the robbery, the gallery owner commented “one of the larger slabs of plaster appears to have broken during the robbery and was left behind by the thieves. The gallery’s restorers are currently working to piece it together and return it to its former glory.”

The gallery owner continued, “to safeguard against future robberies, we are now planning to pay students to each hold a painting and walk around the gallery whilst keeping a safe distance from our precious walls”.

However, art lovers have wider concerns. They fear that the street plaster behind Banksy’s art is at greater risk due to it being easier to steal than art gallery plaster. Arrested plaster thief, Dave Phillips, suggests this may not be a concern “We don’t target the Banksy stuff. It might be a bit easier to steal, but we then have to spend ages trying to scrub off the crappy graffiti before we can sell the beautiful plasterwork that’s underneath.”

Slightly edgy left-leaning professionals across Britain have hailed the passing of the ‘Socio-political Spray Paint Dissemination Act – 2010’ into law. The act, better known as ‘Bansky’s Law’ legalises graffiti, provided it is ‘tastefully wrought by privately educated members of socio-demographic classes A and B’ and that it ‘purports to carry some sort of political or cultural message of an improving nature.’

Banksy marked the historic occasion with a press conference at Bromley-by-Bow’s Brownfield Council Estate - taking an afternoon off from work on his first book of essays: ‘If Voting Changed Anything They’d Abolish It’. The former pupil of the Bristol Cathedral School spray painted a picture of Winnie the Pooh in a gimp mask onto one of the stairwells, to wild applause from residents.

“This law is great news” exclaimed Independent on Sunday editor John Mullin, who launched the ‘Banksy’s Law’ campaign in 2007 “It means that our readers can continue to enjoy their copy of ‘Walls and Piece’ in the comfort of their living rooms, whilst simaltaneously bemoaning how little their local police force are doing to curb the graffiti problem.” adding: “Independent readers are very sensitive to accusations of hypocrisy; now, thanks to this law, they can follow Banksy’s wittily-daubed anarchist broadsides with a clear conscience.”

Banksy briefly lifted the Palestinian Kuffiyeh from his face to address the media: “The Government has given us, the upper-middle classes, a solemn charge: we are called to express the collective alienation and ennui felt by millions of ordinary working class folk. These people are feeling ground down by global capitalism, American hegemony and Tory lies. My chums, sorry, 'comrades', and I promise speak on their behalves to the very best of our abilities - and in some cheekily subversive ways” he added, winking to the cameras, before dashing off a fetching trop d’oeil of a vandalised toilet with ‘smash the cistern’ neatly stencilled underneath.

Bristolian wit and raconteur Justin Lee-Collins has finally ended months of speculation and admitted that he is indeed the much admired 'street artist' Banksy. Speaking from his home in Easton, mr Lee-Collins said 'I, loike, caouldn't hide it any longer. Once I knew the News of the World was after me, I had to coime oyt and admit it were me what did them paintins n stuff'

Bristol Museum spokesman commented that his suspisions had been arroused by an 'odd-looking short beardy bloke' that was spotted by CCTV during Banksy's top secret preparations for his sell-out exhibition last year.

Art Critic Brian Sewel commented on the story 'I'm not surprised you know, after all you never see them together do you? By the way who is this Banksy Fellow anyhow?'

Relieved to have come clean Mr Lee-Collins' celebrations were cut short by the serving of a writ from Bristol City council for unpaid fines amounting to £15m for public disorder offences dating back to 1988.
