Hellraising bassist and Motorhead front man, Lemmy, is today recovering from his world record breaking feat for the longest bass solo ever.

The marathon slapathon started on Saturday at the band's gig in London's Royal Albert Hall during the second encore, the iconic Ace of Spades. The band's guitarist "Filthy" Phil Campbell takes up the tale:

"We were just getting ready to finish the number when suddenly Lemmy started to improvise a bit. We stuck with him for half and hour or so but in the end we couldn't hack it. So we just finished the gig and left Lem to it. The roadies started to break down the gear and lights and the audience all got fed up and left but Lemmy kept at it"

And today it's been confirmed by the Guinness book of Records, that the bonkers bassist finally packed it in at 1.30 pm on Sunday afternoon, thus setting a new world record.

The cockahoop 4 string wizard told us:

"I was sorta in the zone guys. And to tell the truth when I finished I was surprised that 14 hours had passed. But I've had it confirmed that it's a new world record so that's brilliant"

Lemmy's record of 14 hours, 20 minutes and 12 seconds beats the previous holder, Mark King, from pop-funksters level forty two by a full minute.
