The students` union has severely criticised an unnamed student who used his student loan for buying text books and writing materials for his course.
Tim Harby of the Union says this sort of misuse of loans gives students a bad name.
`Everyone knows that these loans are strictly for the purchase of copious amounts of booze and spirits as well as going out and having a good time. These generous amounts of money are given at very preferential rates and we don`t expect students to spend it flippantly. The unnamed student, who it is now believed has passed his exams and is working as a professor of heart surgery at a top London hospital, is said to be deeply ashamed of his conduct and is paying the money back at GBP 1.30 a week.
